Burial grounds for COVID non-believers ‘ready for occupancy’ – Aklan LGU exec

ILOILO CITY – A local official in Aklan province has a stern warning for those who does not believe in the threat posed by COVID-19.

Vice Mayor Vincent Navarosa of Libacao town posted several photos of himself inspecting burial grounds in preparation for COVID-19 fatalities.

“Ready for occupancy.” Navarosa said in a August 9 Facebook post.

This was in response to the memorandum of Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores to the officials of 17 towns that they need to prepare burial grounds for COVID-19 victims.

Navarosa further warned Aklanons by literally putting emoji icons of ghost and skulls for those who do not follow health protocols, who do not want to get vaccinated and who do not want to believe that COVID-19 is real.

Since late July, COVID-19 cases surged in Aklan province.

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr., chief of the Aklan Provincial Health Office (APHO), said that there was an average of four to five COVID-19 deaths in the province.

As of August 9, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,077 active cases of COVID-19 in Aklan.
