DOH says PH classification now high-risk for COVID-19


The country's coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case classification is now at high-risk, the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, August 9.

"Nationally, our case classification is now at high risk," Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an online press briefing.

She revealed that national cases saw an increase in the recent week.

"Cases from August 1 to 7 recorded 8,695 cases per day, an increase of 2,197 cases per day compared to the previous week of July 25 to July 31 of 6,498 cases," Vergeire said.

"Nationally, our two week growth rate (TWGR) is positive at 47 percent. Our average daily attack rate (ADAR) on the other hand, is now at high risk which increased to 7.20 cases per every 100,000 population," she added.

The Health department also flagged Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions 1, 2, 4A, 7, and 10 with high-risk case classification based on its moderate risk TWGR and high risk ADAR.

Apart from the said high risk areas, Vergeire said, Regions 3, 12, 8 and 5 currently have positive TWGR rates and Region 6 with high risk ADAR.

She said NCR maintains positive TWGR and high risk ADAR.

"The ADAR now is at 12.70 per 100,000 population," she said.

"All of the areas in NCR have positive TWGR. Pateros, Malabon, Navotas are at critical risk having high risk TWGR and ADAR," added Vergeire.

The areas with high risk ADAR, she said, are Makati, San Juan, Pasay, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig, Manila and Quezon City.

Vergeire also said that all 17 areas in the NCR have local Delta variant cases as of August 5.

"Out of 16 cities and one muncuolty in NCR, 10 are currently classified as alert level 4. These areas are Pateros, Malabon, Valenzuela, Marikina, Taguig, Quezon City, Makati, San Juan, Muntinlupa and Las Piñas," she said.

Other areas in alert level 4 are Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Iocos Norte,Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino,Angeles City, Bataan, Olongapo City, Pampanga, Tarlac, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Lucena City,Camarines Sur, Iloilo, Iloilo City, Cebu, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Tacloban City, Ormoc City, Bukidnon, Cagayan De Oro City, Camiguin, Davao City, General Santos City, and South Cotabato.

Vergeire added that local Delta cases had been detected in 13 out of 17 regions in the country.
