Pateros reaches more than 100% of target population in first dose vaccination

The Pateros municipal government has reached more than 100 percent of its target population in the first dose COVID-19 vaccination.

This was revealed by Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III during the “Laging Handa” public briefing Saturday.

Vaccination in Pateros (Pateros municipal government)

Pateros has an original target population of 49,000, equivalent to 70 percent of its estimated population of 70,000.

But because of the increase in the number of people who wanted to get vaccinated, Ponce said they have decided to increase the target population to 80 percent, or 56,000, an increase of 7,000 from the original.

“We have already exceeded 100 percent of our first target of 70 percent of the population and we are at almost 63 percent for the second dose,” he said.

He said as of Aug. 6, Pateros has vaccinated 89.39 percent of the new target population of 56,000, or about 50,053 individuals who received the first dose.

For the second dose, Pateros has already vaccinated almost 55 percent of the target population, or 30,800 individuals.

Before the change, Pateros had already vaccinated 96.23 percent, or 47,155 individuals, of its 70 percent target population as of Aug. 4; while 30,582 individuals became fully vaccinated, or 62.41 percent.

Ponce said since July 30, the number of people flocking to vaccination sites daily has increased due to reports that Metro Manila would be placed under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Under ECQ, the municipal government has implemented a no walk-in policy at vaccination sites except for senior citizens.

Only those with confirmed vaccination schedules via text messages sent by the municipal government will be considered as Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) for the day.
