P157.5-M marijuana uprooted in Kalinga


TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A total of 535,600 fully grown marijuana plants with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P157.5 million were uprooted from 22 plantations during a three-day eradication operation conducted by joint operatives of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera in two hinterlands barangays of Tinglayan, this province, from Aug. 3 to 5.

Kalinga police director Police Col. Davy Limmong said in the first two days of the operation under “Oplan: Fakut,” 82,000 fully grown marijuana plants (FMGP) from seven plantations in Barangay Loccong and 228,600 pieces of FGMP from eight plantations in Butbut Proper were discovered.

A total of 310,600 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP of P62,120,000 from a total land area of 32,000 square meters were uprooted and burned on site.

Limmong said on Aug. 5, they discovered seven more plantations in Barangay Loccong and uprooted 225,000 FGMP and recovered 420 kilos of dried marijuana with overall SDP of P95,400,000.
