Brand new singles from a talented string of young music acts.
You may have heard of Rob Deniel before, this 17-year-old singer-songwriter made waves around this time last year when his song “Ulap” exploded. His breakout track was all the more impressive given that said song was recorded mostly by a then 16-year-old Rob from his smart phone.
To date, “Ulap” has over 60 million plus combined streams on the popular streaming platforms. Rob has since released a string of singles that added credence to his reputation as one of the bright young acts to watch out for 2021 and beyond. And this young Rob is even hard at work in establishing a sound of his own that he half-jokingly calls ‘sweetheart rock.’
And to further his vision, or sound rather, Rob returns with a brand new single titled “Darling, Darling.”
The new single is Rob through and through, having written, sung and played the retro-styled guitars on the track. For sure “Darling, Darling” leans towards alt-pop but it also exudes a retro kind of vibe. We’ve interviewed Rob before and we know that he’s into classic rock and pop. So this is basically his musical influences finding its way into Rob’s songwriting and sound. But no matter his leanings, Rob Deniel comes up with a deceptively simple tune that is enticing and radiates sunny vibes despite its a-wanting theme.
Press Hit Play (a.k.a. PHP) officially release their debut single “Win.” This bouncy dance-pop track with its “stadium-sized chorus’ mixed with “a healthy dose of Hiphop” is the sonic vehicle that PHP is currently riding on as the vie for a piece of the Pinoy pop pie that’s currently seeing a surge of K-pop styled pop and dance groups.
The good news is that Press Hit Play is equipped to take their counterpart groups head on and themselves offer something unique. PHP’s members have their roles to play. Yukito is de facto group leader, Sev the main vocalist, JP is songwriter-producer and ‘total performer. Meanwhile Zi.o is the designated rapper and dancer with fellow dance-meister and choreographer Yuuki. And last but not least is CHRLS (stylized as such) as lead vocalists/songwriter.
According to the Press Hit Play’s official press, “Win” is “really about pursuing and following your dreams,” adding that PHP “wanted to make an anthem that would best describe our journey. It took a long time and it wasn’t easy, but we all feel that finally, we have arrived.”
