San Juan LGU distributes food packs at home for the elderly

The San Juan City local government donated on Friday, August 6, food packs and other basic items to a home for the aged in the city as part of its program to assist its residents adversely affected by the reimposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, together with other city government officials, visited the Little Sisters of the Elderly located on F. Blumentritt St. and distributed food boxes coming from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government.

According to the Facebook and Twitter posts of netizens, the shelter was asking for food donations such as canned goods, frozen foods, vegetables, toiletries, and other items that can be used by the elderly living there.

The shelter has 100 abandoned grandmothers and 25 workers and volunteers.

As of this posting, numerous netizens have given cash donations.

Various groups and individuals are also planning to conduct donation drives for the shelter.

The ECQ in Metro Manila will last until August 20.
