NBI arrests ‘illegal drugs trader’

National Bureau of Investigation

A suspected illegal drugs trader has been arrested in Paranaque City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Friday, August 6.

NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Joren Mari Tamayo Bechayda, alias “Corine.”

The NBI said Bechayda was arrested last July 28 during a buy-bust operation conducted by the NBI’s National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) in a subdivision in Paranaque City in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

It said the operation was conducted based from "a report that a certain alias 'Corine' was engaged in the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution, and transportation of dangerous drugs in the cities of Paranaque and Pasay....”

When arrested, seized from Bechayda were 15 plastic sachets that contained kush which the NBI described as “a pure or hybrid Cannabis indica and considered an illegal drug.”

“Subject Joren Mari Tamayo Bechayda was presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor of Paranaque City,” the NBI said.
