Cassy Legaspi on her supposedly being popular only because of parents: 'There's no shame in that'

Budding actress Cassy Legaspi doesn't mind if people know her only as the daughter of seasoned actors Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi.

In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment, Cassy noted how she's "okay" with it.

"Kasi totoo naman. Ako naman anak... There's no shame in that label naman," she said.

But of course, the 20-year-old Kapuso star is hoping she can make her own mark someday.

"'Yung to the point na 'Ah si Cassy Legaspi yun,' instead of 'Anak ni ganito, ganyan.'"

And it seems like she's slowly getting there.

Being part of "First Yaya," Cassy said people now recognize her more as her character there.

"It's my dream na when I go out and bump into other people, instead of calling me by my name, they call you the character name of the role that you portrayed," she said, relating that nowadays a lot of people would greet her as Nina Acosta, the rebellious and eldest daughter of the President who initially rejects Yaya Melody in the show.

"That was one of, like, my little dreams na that would be so fun to hear, and iyon po, it happened. I guess more people recognized me more na as 'legit' artista kasi nag show na ako. And I showed these people what I can do for now. So like yung drama, kilig scenes, sort of yung comedy."

Anyway, through the said show, Cassy realized she now wants to further her foray in showbiz.

"I already knew na 'Okay, ito na ang career ko. This is it.' Gusto ko na talagang maging artista like full force. Kasi I really enjoyed it. Yes, napapagod din ako but I'm still smiling even though I'm tired. Experiencing it made me realized I really, really want it!"

As for her next project, Cassy hopes to do something related to drama or romantic-comedy.

"Just to see if I can continue or maintain yung acting ko," she related.

So who does she want to be paired with next time?

"Well, of course, I'm happy to work with anyone and I think that would be a challenge for me - to build chemistry with someone who, let's say is an acquaintance or I never met. Or maybe it would be nice kung friend ko siya. But yung dream partner ko is siyempre si Kuya Alden (Richards)."

But you have a nine-year age gap?

"If it works, it works," Cassy said. "He's not that old naman. Di naman ganu'n kalayo yung age gap."

"But ayun nga po, as an actor, it's more on chemistry. How it looks on TV. Kung may chemistry kami ni Kuya Alden, go na natin!"

Note that promising Kapuso actor Joaquin Domagoso was her first onscreen partner.

"Well, I'm really, really happy with JD. He's such a really, really good partner and I would love to work with JD again. Honestly, I miss JD, I miss working with him, and I also miss his company and all of that. But as an actor, siyempre po I want to experience other partners or actors din," she said.

"Para lang, I guess to get to grow din as an actor. Kasi ito po yung first serye ko eh. So sana sa next, I get to work with other people."
