
K-pop boy band Treasure members Doyoung, 17, and Junghwan, 16, have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We inform you that Treasure members Doyoung and So Junghwan have fully recovered from COVID-19,” said YG Entertainment, Treasure’s agency.
It added, “Furthermore, other members of Treasure and surrounding staff members have all been tested negative on the final test, and have been released from self-quarantine regulations as of July 29.”
Doyoung tested positive for COVID-19 last July 13. YG Entertainment said Doyoung tested positive for COVID-19 using a self-testing kit, which was done before the commercial shooting on July 12. Doyoung underwent PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test, which confirmed that he had the virus.
Three days later, Junghwan also tested positive for COVID-19. He initially tested negative but through another use self-testing kit, he tested positive, which was confirmed through a subsequent PCR test.
“Following professional clinical judgement that Doyoung and So Jung-hwan will no longer be infectious, the two members left the residential treatment center on July 23 and July 26, respectively, and voluntarily stayed rested at their homes for about a week,” YG Entertainment added.
The agency said, “We would like to thank the fans who have shown concerns and healthcare workers who are working hard under extremely hot weather to overcome COVID-19. Please look forward to Treasure, who will soon make a return in good health.”
“We will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our artists and employees as well as strictly following the disease prevention guidelines set by health authorities, and do our best to avoid setbacks in our scheduled activities,” it said.
Last July 26, it was announced that Korean actor Ji Chang-wook tested positive for COVID-19. On July 30, “Coffee Prince” actor Kim Chang-wan also tested positive for the virus.
