IBP salutes lawyers as ‘modern-day heroes’

As the country celebrates “Heroes Month” this August, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) paid tribute to all lawyers, including those in the judiciary, the prosecutors’ offices and public attorney’s office.

“We salute you,” declared IBP President Burt M. Estrada.

“We thank our judges, public prosecutors, public attorneys and private law practitioners and those who work in the Hall of Justice Buildings all throughout the country,” Estrada said.

He pointed out that during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the country’s lawyers “continue to discharge their noble duties and responsibilities in the administration of justice in the country and to perform essential services as legal frontliners in upholding the rule of law to promote an orderly and civilized society.”

“They, too, are our modern-day heroes as legal frontliners together with the healthcare workers, those in the Armed Forces and those who are in the forefront of delivering our basic needs and services,” he stressed.

Under Republic Act No. 9492, “National Heroes Day” is celebrated every last Monday of August.
