MTRCB mourns passing of former head Manoling Morato


Manuel “Manoling” Morato, former head of the Movie and TV Review and Classifications Board (MTRCB) and board director of the Philippines Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), recently passed away. He was 87.

On Facebook, MTRCB paid tribute to Morato, deeming him a "legend."

"The whole of the MTRCB family joins in mourning the loss of Manuel "Manoling"  Morato, Former Chairperson and legend of the Philippine entertainment industry. Your contributions to history, the national discourse and the lives of the Filipino people will remain ever large in our hearts. You will be missed Sir," they wrote.

In an article published on ABS-CBN, Morato reportedly died due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, actor Jake Cuenca also reacted to the untimely passing of his grand uncle.

“Ang bilis, a matter of a week! It took us all by surprise because usually he overcomes challenges,“ said Jake, who last saw Morato at a Christmas reunion last year.

“Ang dami niyang natulungang tao, kasama na ang pamilya namin.”
