DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has made voter’s registration easier and more convenient for people of this province through a mobile app.
Comelec Provincial Election Supervisor Marino Salas of Pangasinan said the mobile app aims to streamline the registration process by making the fill up of registration forms digital.
Salas said during a forum last Wednesday that a resident of the 18 municipalities in this province identified by Comelec as pilot areas can apply for registration using the app with no Internet connection needed, allowing it to be accessible anytime, anywhere.
The 18 municipalities implementing the mobile app are Bolinao, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, Basista, Labrador, Bugallon, Bayambang, Alcala, Santo Tomas, Sison, Villasis, Asingan, Natividad, Rosales, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Santa Maria, and Urdaneta City.
The mobile registration form app is downloadable by scanning the QR code on the phone screen and is shareable using any file-sharing application.
Once installed, it will function on any smartphone with an android operating system even without internet connectivity.
The app may be accessed by pressing “get started” to select the desired type of application, then tapping “proceed.” After putting all necessary personal information, tap the “generate QR code button,” and save the QR code to the phone gallery.
Registrants should show the QR code when they drop by their Comelec offices for biometrics.
Salas said that from May 31 to July 17, 3,120 have applied using mobile registration and many more are availing.
The deadline for application is Sept. 30.
