“Lock down hard, lock down fast.”

With this general strategy, Metro Manila will shift back to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to August 20 in a bid to stymie the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

President Duterte has also announced that he will no longer be pursuing the termination of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) between the Philippines and the United States.
