Lady cop in Negros Occidental sacked for ties to illegal gambling

BACOLOD CITY – A policewoman in Negros Occidental was relieved from her post after she was recently linked to an illegal gambling activity in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, Negros Occidental police information officer, said the policewoman, whom they did not identify, was relieved from the Office of Police Col. Romy Palgue, Negros Occidental police director, effective immediately.

Although the report has yet to be confirmed, Donasco said that Palgue has already ordered an investigation on the policewoman.

Reports allegedly linking the policewoman to illegal gambling came out Wednesday, following the anti-illegal gambling operation conducted by the 2nd Company of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Company in Barangay Quiwi Sunday.

Donasco said that it is not yet clear how the policewoman's name was dragged, adding that they will have to verify the information and look for the organizer of the gambling activity.

She assured that Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office will look into the matter to know the whole story. Donasco reminded policemen to refrain from getting involved in any illegal activity.
