The members of American pop band LANY have extended a congratulatory message to Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who ended a 97-year drought for the Philippines in its quest for an Olympic gold medal recently.
On their respective social media accounts, lead singer Paul Jason Klein wrote: "Congrats to @hidilyndiaz and the Philippines (who have been so unbelievable to my band) on ur first ever gold medal," while drummer Jake Clifford Goss uploaded a wacky snap of Hidilyn.
“History. Mahal kita sobra, Philippines!," he added.
Keyboardist Charles Leslie Priest also applauded the two-time Olympic medalist.
Aside from the three, Filipino-American stand-up comic Jo Koy proudly shared the photo of Hidilyn on his Instagram profile.
"Yes!! @hidilyndiaz wins GOLD for the Philippines!!!!! So proud," his caption read.

Diaz, 30, a native of Zamboanga City, ruled the 55-kilogram category in women’s weightlifting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on July 26. She set an Olympic record of 224kgs total lift, combining her 127kgs in clean and jerk – also an Olympic mark – and 97kgs in snatch.
After Hidilyn’s historical win, many celebrities were quick to extend their congratulatory messages.
However, Jinkee Pacquiao, the wife of boxing legend and Senator Manny Pacquiao, apologized to followers after some called her out for using the wrong emoji flag of the Philippines in her post.
Anyway, comedian Ogie Diaz and Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz reacted to different memes of them relating to the athlete, who happens to have the same surname as them.
On the other hand, musician Rico Blanco dedicated his song “Alab ng Puso” to Hidilyn.
