Bianca Gonzalez lectures basher on 'Abante Babae' statement

TV host Bianca Gonzalez has recently schooled a basher who took offense with her "Abante Babae" post relating to the recent success of Filipino female athletes at the ongoing Olympics.

Recall that following the historic win of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who ended the 97-year drought for the Philippines in its quest for an Olympic gold medal, featherweight boxer Nesthy Petecio also advanced to the semifinals, assuring her of at least a bronze medal in the competition. She'll be squaring off with Italy's representative this July 31.

Anyway, a netizen called out Bianca, saying: "Abante pilipinas.. kaya dini discriminate mga babae dahil puro kayo kayo rin mismo ginagawa nyong issue pagiging babae.."

However, the 38-year-old Kapamilya star was quick to defend her statement.

"Kapag sinabi naming ABANTE BABAE hindi ibig sabihin na babae lamang ang dapat umabante. Ilang daang taon na ang kalalakihan ang nabibigyan ng mga oportunidad kaya't kapag may babaeng nagtatagumpay, ipinagbubunyi natin para mas marami pang kababaihan ang mapagbigyan," she said.

"It's this narrative of 'kaya dini-discriminate ang mga babae dahil ginagawa ninyong issue ang pagiging babae' that keeps us from reaching true gender equality. We push for women's empowerment precisely because TOO MANY WOMEN feel like they have no voice and are put into this box."

Bianca continued how men can be true allies by supporting, encouraging, and empowering the women in their lives to do what they want and dream big dreams.

"Hindi yung, 'eto ka lang kasi babae ka lang.' Hindi kami 'babae lang.' BABAE KAMI. ABANTE BABAE," she pointed out.

Well, this is not the first time that Bianca voiced out her two cents.

Prior, she expressed dismay over a post justifying cheating partners.

For the nth time, she also promoted self-love, particularly when it comes to skin color.
