Various La Salle campuses lit up to celebrate the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), De La Salle University, and La Salle Green Hills illuminated their campuses in honor of Diaz.
“Mabuhay ang Atletang Lasalyano at Benildyano! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!,” CSB wrote on Facebook.
Diaz received a scholarship at CSB where she pursued a degree in Business Management in 2017.
On Monday night, July 26, Diaz delivered the first-ever Olympic gold medal for the Philippines after ruling the women’s 55kg weightlifting event.
The 30-year-old Zamboanga native ended the country’s Olympic long medal drought with a silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Diaz also bagged the country’s first gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
