Hidilyn Diaz gets free train rides for life on LRT-1

The rewards and perks keep on pouring for Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, with the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) awarding the weightlifter free train rides for life.

In its Facebook post, the LRMC extended its congratulations to Diaz following her historic gold medal finish at the Tokyo Olympics last Monday, July 26.

The 30-year-old Zamboanga City native ruled the women’s 55-kilogram category in weightlifting to give the country its first Olympic gold medal since first joining the quadrennial games in 1924.

"The road to excellence was not easy. But you stayed on track and trained hard to win our first Olympic gold!" the post read.

To add to the champion athlete's long list of goodwill gifts, the LRMC offered Diaz lifetime free rides at the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1). LRMC is the private operator of the LRT-1.

"Bilang pagkilala sa iyong tagumpay, sagot na namin ang #LRT1 rides mo Hidilyn Diaz, for life! (In recognition of your victory, we will shoulder your #LRT1 rides Hidilyn Diaz, for life!)," the LRMC added.

Private companies earlier announced their own rewards for Diaz. These include a brand new condominium, house and lot, car, lifetime free flights, fuel, among others.

She will also receive P10 million in cash incentive from the national government as mandated by the Republic Act (RA) No.10699, or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act; P10 million from the MVP Sports Foundation of telco mogul Manny V. Pangilinan; P10 million from San Miguel Corp. of Ramon S. Ang; P3 million from House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero; and P2.5 million from the local government of Zamboanga City.
