Cops fetching vaccines survive ambush attack in Samar


TACLOBAN CITY – Calbayog City cops survived an ambush attack along the national highway of Brgy. Lale, Pinabacdao, Samar, Tuesday afternoon (July 27).

Reports disclosed that a police mobile driven by PSSg Vito Jordan was on a convoy with the city health office to fetch coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines from the Department of Health Regional Office in Palo, Leyte.

Upon reaching the vicinity of Brgy. Lale at around 1 p.m., they heard three gun fires of unknown firearms, which were followed by an explosion about twenty meters behind the patrol car.

PSSg Jordan was able to seek backup from the Pinabacdao Municipal Police Station that immediately responded and secured the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Division of Samar Police Provincial Office recovered a 24 feet electric wire; a fired cartridge of 5.56 mm; and PVC fragments scattered near the right shoulder of the road.

No casualty was reported during the incident, while a hot pursuit operation was launched for possible identification and arrest of the perpetrators.
