3 dead in separate Pangasinan incidents


DAGUPAN CITY — Three individuals met their unfortunate end in separate instances in Calasiao, Sison and Anda towns respectively today.

Three-year-old Sophia Mae Episcope of Barangay Poblacion West in Calasiao town drowned in the floodwater outside their house.

According to investigation, Janice, the victim's mother woke up only to find out her baby was missing. She eventually went outside the house to look for her and found her lying on the flooded ground.

Janice was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

In Sison town, Eugene Marata, 49, a resident of Sition Caalbarisan, Barangay Esperanza, was walking towards a rice field to work when he tripped on a live electric cable owned by the La Union Electric Cooperative (LUELCO). He then fell down and made contact with the ground which caused him to be electrocuted.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Awile, Anda town, 39-year-old Salvador Camasen died due to suffocation inside the 25-meter deep well he was working on.

Investigation reveals Camasen went down the well to create a water way in the well's wall, when he lost consciousness.

Prior to the incident, he was complaining of the foul smell in the well, but neverthless continued to work.

He was eventually pulled out by rescuers and rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
