ILOILO CITY – Pro-administration banners were seen hanging in certain areas of this city, a known bailiwick of the opposition, just in time for the last State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Duterte, Monday, July 26.

Banners with the words “YES FOR PEACE, NO TO TERRORIST CPP-NPA-NDF!” were seen in several places, including the gate of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, which referenced the Duterte administration’s program of ending local communist armed conflict.

There were also countless banners thanking Duterte for several programs initiated under his administration – free COVID-19 vaccines, the decline of criminal incidents, and the countless projects across the country.

Some of these banners were hammered onto trees at the plazas in several districts of the city and it cannot be ascertained the group behind it.

With Iloilo City and Iloilo province under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status due to high number of COVID-19 cases, there were no mass protests. Instead, several activists just held small-scale activities.
