PCG rescues 13 crew members from engine-troubled cargo vessel in Leyte


Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Southern Leyte rescued at least 13 crew members from a troubled cargo vessel off Macrohon, Southern Leyte on Saturday, July 24.

In an incident report, the cargo vessel MV Danica Martina, carrying 13 crew members, encountered engine trouble while traveling Macrohon at 12:08 p.m. on Saturday.

The PCG, citing report from the chief mate of the vessel, said it ran aground in the Macrohon shoreline.

The Coast Guard Southern Leyte immediately deployed a quick response team to provide necessary assistance.

Meanwhile, the PCG Marine Environmental Protection Group in Southern Leyte is set to conduct an inspection for possible oil spill in the area.

No crew members were injured during the incident.
