GOSSIP GIRL: Diego Loyzaga on bouncing back

Diego Loyzaga

“There was a time, the whole course of late 2018 until late 2019, a whole entire year, there were certain things I was praying for, night after night, I was just saying, God if you can just show me how I can make it there, para makarating ako doon, para maging clear ang kailangan ko gawin, everyday he would give me signs na darating ka doon, in the weirdest ways, whether it was somebody telling me something which is God’s way of telling me that I should do this or shouldn’t do this. Sobrang perfect coincidence naman, I know it was a higher power controlling the things in the events in my life. Amazing yung power niya, yung kaya niyang gawin," the young actor told Gossip Girl during the presscon of his television program “Encounter” in TV 5 with Christine Reyes. After the presscon I asked him to elaborate more, but he told me, “When I am ready Ate Giselle, I will tell you everything. For now baby steps muna. The truth is I wasn’t planning to share anything personal about my life just yet, but you asked about encountering God and I could not deny the power he did for me that changed my life.”

Diego and mom Teresa Loyzaga

When I went home, I googled Diego Loyzaga late 2018 and there I read in several sites rumors of his alleged suicide attempt, that he was allegedly rushed in St. Luke’s hospital for taking his life with a Swiss knife. These reports were never confirmed nor denied by Diego nor his mother Teresa Loyzaga and his father Cesar Montano. After this incident, the young actor stopped posting in his social media accounts. Mid-2019 the actor’s mother guested in a morning talk show Magandang Buhay and their topic was about depression. Maipapayo ko lang, kung meron kayong pinagdadaanan.. you deal with it one step at a time, you reach out, humingi kayo ng tulong. Ang maganda kung meron kayong good family support, Huwag mo hanapin kung saan, kung kelangan mo ng tulong huwag kayong mahiya humingi ng tulong sa mommy mo,sa daddy mo, kapatid mo, tita niyo, lola mo, in my case, I’m your mom, tell me, make me part of that, it's not your problem alone, huwag mong solohin, kung ikaw lang magisa, masisisraan ka ng ulo, huwag kang matakot, hindi kahiya- hiyang aminin na hey may problema ako, the more you are vocal about it, mahahanapan natin ng solution.” Diego’s mother also confirmed that his son turned off all of his gadgets, “Sometimes you have to stop and reassess your life.”

Diego and Barbie Imperial

Now Diego is happy – happy in his career, happy in his relationship with Barbie Imperial, and happy with his relationship with his mother Teresa. I did ask Diego if he has already reconciled with his father Cesar Montano, “Baby steps ate Giselle, we will get there.” I sure hope this reconciliation will be soon, especially that actor Cesar Montano will be celebrating his birthday in four days. You can watch Diego’s latest movie Death of Girlfriend in the Vivamax streaming app together with his TV series in TV 5, “Encounter.”
