Chery Tiggo cashed in on Perlas’ blown opportunities as it hammered out a 25-10, 27-25, 25-23 victory Monday, July 26, to snare solo third place in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the PCV Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
After dominating the opening set, the Crossovers battled back from 24-21 and 23-21 deficits in the second and third sets to complete the straight-set win—their third in four outings.
The win put them at solo third behind the Creamline Cool Smashers (4-0) and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans (3-0).
It also made up for a stunning 25-19, 19-25, 25-13, 25-27, 12-15 meltdown by Chery Tiggo at the hands of an overachieving Bali Pure side Thursday for their first loss of the conference.
Despite the win, Crossovers coach Aaron Velez said they still needed more polishing of plays to do.
“Siyempre iba pa rin ang panalo. However, andami pa ring kailangang ayusin kasi doon kami nag-relax. Learning experience pa rin yung last match, but we have to move forward,” Velez said.
Jaja Santiago spearheaded the charge for the Crossovers, delivering the decisive kills and blocks up front that helped sealed it while finishing with 15 points on 11 kills and three blocks.
Shaya Adorador also helped with 12 points built on six spikes, four aces and two blocks.
