Hotel living made more homey at the Grand Hyatt Residences

The extent of the global health crisis is unknown. A bitter truth is that COVID-19 is not the last pandemic we are going to experience. Having said this, home, now more than ever, is our ultimate solace, a safe haven that should feel far from being a lockdown facility.

For some, a stint living in hotels helps create a bridge to cross life’s tougher moments. Many celebrities and artists prefer hotels to houses and apartments because of the convenience and lifestyle tied to them. Imagine having an army of staff at your disposal ready to serve and help you in every conceivable way, 24-hours a day. This is the main consideration with the real estate developer Federal Land Inc.’s current project, the Grand Hyatt Manila Residences.

This first and only Grand Hyatt branded residences concept in Southeast Asia revolutionizes the standards of Filipino luxury living. A two-tower condominium maintains the impeccable service and thoughtful amenities the iconic hotel brand has come to be known for. What sets it apart from other developments is the exclusive access residents have to the five-star hotel, Grand Hyatt Manila, with special privileges, including access to the services and facilities of the hotel.

“Grand Hyatt is an expert in hospitality. It makes sense for them to extend toward branded residences. We [Federal Land Inc.] had to become part of that. We’re very happy to have a relationship with them,” says Thomas Mirasol, current president and chief operations officer (COO) at Federal Land, Inc., on the joint venture among his company, Orix corporation of Japan, and Grand Hyatt. “These are two big names that bring a lot of history and experience in managing premium real estate. The partnership has been great, and the product spectacular.”

From design efficiency to luxury, world-class architecture to a la carte hotel services, every refinement life could offer has been taken into account in the creation of the residences. “Because it [the residences] is attached to the Grand Hyatt brand, it has to meet certain standards,” explained the property development expert, Thomas.

Part of a 10-hectare, New York-inspired, master-planned community in North Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig, the residences are surrounded by some of the country’s best schools, hospitals, corporate headquarters, malls, and restaurants.

Its architectural design guarantees high levels of security and marries function with style. The building is masterfully constructed following global standards of efficiency, safety, structural integrity, and engineering technology. For its exterior, the structure gleams with a stunning glass façade sturdy enough to withstand high wind pressure. Comfort is also provided to homeowners as the innovative glass minimizes ultraviolet and infrared light to keep interiors cool and vibrant.

Sustainability is an integral part of the project design, as it is with all Federal Land developments. Apart from the compliance with the national standards set by DENR and other local agencies, the design intent was centered on the other definition of natural resource conservation, maintaining a certain quality of life within the units and respective communities.

All units from the first tower have been sold. The second building called the South Tower, with 50 floors of uncompromising luxury, is nearing completion. A total of 188 living spaces where families can own hotel-like homes are available.

The units range from two bedrooms 143 square meters in size to three bedrooms at up to 394 square meters each, all of which come with a balcony for an expansive view of the city and the sky, a high glass ratio, and a generous 3.5-meter floor-to-floor height.

These units also reflect a hotel-like ambiance, with posh European kitchen appliances, as well as a ceiling-concealed air conditioning system, and stylish baths with concealed floor drains that make for a beautifully seamless interior aesthetic. Select units have a private den and indoor garden.

For the amenities, the South Tower has a covered whirlpool, kiddie pool, lap pool, indoor fitness center, yoga room, teen entertainment zone, and children’s playroom. The lobby, with the signature palatial vibe, has a floor-to-floor height of six meters.

“If you’re paying for extra, you might as well choose something that gives you extra. Having your residence connected to a hotel of that stature, it’s not just any higher, it’s a grand higher,” said Thomas.

Other benefits unit owners are entitled to are a la carte services. They can avail of in-residence dining, rental of a private chef, errand runner, housekeeping, general cleaning, concierge, floral arrangements, laundry, dry cleaning, car wash cleaning, transportation services, minor auto repair, and maintenance. “You can rely on the staff of the hotel. It’s another level of elevated living experience,” he added.

Residents can also access the adjacent hotel’s amenities, as well as the culinary delights including The Grand Kitchen, The Cellar, The Lounge, No. 8 China House, The Peak, Florentine, and the Pool House.

Another perk for homeowners would be the opportunity to chat with the general manager and area vice president of Grand Hyatt Manila, Gottfried Bogensperger, or GB as his peers would call him. A conversation with GB is always engaging and could last for hours. His love for the hotel staff and for Filipinos, in general, is something else. Some of the topics you might want to discuss with him are Philippine politics, European culture, travel, and hospitality.

“We [Grand Hyatt Manila] never had bad thoughts. Our mind was set on ‘how we can make it.’ Our priority from day one is nobody loses their job. We’re in this together,” says GB, sharing how the hotel is handling the challenge of the global pandemic.

To top off all the privileges is the highly-coveted two-year Globalist membership, the highest level in the World of Hyatt loyalty program. Families and individuals receive this upon becoming a Grand Hyatt Manila Residences homeowner. Points are earned for availing of hotel services and can be redeemed as rewards such as dining, spa sessions, and room upgrades.

For those who currently live at the first tower are a good mix of local clients and ex-pats, the latter make up 30 percent of the market. These ex-pats are connected to large corporations or are entrepreneurs who own businesses.

Grand Hyatt Manila and the residences are destinations for grand living. Its innovative concepts, timeless elements, matched with safety protocols appropriate for the times, continue to serve and uplift the sophisticated local market. “We work to satisfy our guests’ needs while providing a luxurious experience that can only be found at Grand Hyatt. We do this by giving them our fullest attention and extending our care in more ways than one, especially during these unprecedented times,” says Thomas.

Those looking for a memorable staycation in the metro or who would just like quality food, the Grand Hyatt Manila is open. It has enforced new ways to serve customers in the new normal, and you can save as much as 50 percent with special staycation packages.

With its drive to provide a healthy and safe environment, along with its commitment as an accredited Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR Facility, the five-star hotel continues to implement stringent guidelines in disinfection and infectious disease prevention protocols set forth by GBAC.

Among the activities at the hotel is al fresco dining by The Pool House and The Peak. The poolside is perfect for barbecues, with executive chef Mark Hagan’s wide array of grilled meat and seafood dishes. The Peak, famous for its sweeping backdrop overlooking the entire Metro Manila, offers an exceptional experience of the high life, and a fantastic view of the sunset.
