29 summa cum laude graduates lead UP Diliman's 110th commencement exercises

The University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) will hold its 110th General Commencement Exercises on Sunday, July 25, 2021, led by this year's 29 summa cum laude graduates.

UPD Class of 2021 is led by 29 summa cum laude, an academic distinction for graduates who earned a weighted average grade (WAG) of 1.20 or better.

This year’s summa cum laude graduates are John Virgilio Banda Afable Jr. (BS Computer Science); Carmela Maria Pascua Berba (BS Biology); Sabrina Nicole Tejano Blanco (BS Chemical Engineering); Anton Raphael Santiago Cabalza (BA Anthropology); Jian Lorenzo Gopez Chan (BS Computer Science); Eunice Valerie Li Chua (BS Business Administration and Accountancy); Gabrielle Marie Limpe Chungunco (BS Molecular Biology and Biotechnology); and Kate Allison Sy Co (BS Molecular Biology and Biotechnology).

They are also joined by Julia Bernadette Lim Edralin (BA Psychology); Micaela Neslin Zacarias Fadriquela (BS Psychology); Kobi Christian Sy Go (BS Chemical Engineering); Stephanie Nicole Ong Go (BS Applied Physics); Spencer Shaun So Keh (BS Business Administration and Accountancy); Alyssa Nicole Manrique Loveres (BA Philosophy); Maria Margarita Reyes Magbuhos (BA Anthropology); Michelle Mariel Chua Mariposa (Bachelor of Music/Voice); Maria Andrea Kristina Saquido Onglao (BS Industrial Engineering); and Nathan Joseph Puno Oranga (BS Business Administration and Accountancy).

Rounding up the top honors are Chynna Therese Nicole De Pano Reyes (BS Psychology); Kimberly Joy Reginaldo Sanchez (BS Business Administration); Anna Beatrice Bulalacao Sancio (BA Broadcast Communication); Francesca Anais Young Siasoyco (BS Business Administration); Elaine Co Tan (BS Business Administration); Gene Audrey Uy Tan (BS Computer Science); Trenton Lao Tan (BS Business Administration and Accountancy); Francesa Louise Coseip Villanueva (BS Business Administration); David Martyn Regilme Vinluan (BS Industrial Engineering); Filbert Heinrich Tiu Wee (BS Computer Science); and Nerice Athalia Chiang Yu (BS Business Administration and Accountancy).

The 110th General Commencement Exercises carries the theme "Kanlungan" (Shelter) as a tribute to the University.

"Ipagdiriwang natin ang pambansang pamantasan na luklukan ng talino, husay, at galing ng mga iskolar ng bayan (We will celebrate the national university that is the seat of talent, skill, and talent of the 'iskolar ng bayan')," UP Diliman said in a Facebook post.

"Siya na naging kanlungan ng mga nangangailangan ng malasakit, at ng sapat at tamang kalinga, lalung-lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya (He who has been the refuge of those in need of care, and of adequate and proper care, especially during the pandemic)," it added.
