With the New Normal driving drastic changes in the retail landscape, the country’s mall operators and retailers will now seek to stay ahead of the curve by banding together in coming up with innovative ideas to recreate and reimagine the shopping experience via the 27th National Retail Conference and Expo (NRCE).
As a starter, this year’s NRCE organized by the Philippine Retailers Association goes virtual on August 12 to 13 as the prime movers and players in the Philippine retail industry meeting with technology, design and health experts as they find fresh ideas in repurposing the malls and thinking of strategic ways to entice consumers to shop at the brick-and-mortar stores.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns greatly affected the retail sector, with the malls forced to close and only essential stores were open and minimal interactions were allowed.

“But now that vaccines have been rolled out and the economy is slowly reopening, the shopping malls are now open to provide services to cater to the needs of consumers. However, given the circumstance that we went through, customers now more than ever are careful, meticulous, and health-conscious, thus, affecting their shopping behavior,” PRA president Rosemarie Bosch Ong noted.

#EngagementMatters: Employee engagement and management in the Next Normal

Managing a business and engaging a customer is one thing but managing at the same time engaging an employee is a different context that leaders should look into especially now that we are transitioning and navigating in the new, and mostly digital, normal.

Truth be told that some employees are disengaged affecting their efficiency to contribute and drive profitability for the company. Nonetheless, as a great leader, one must step-up their game and adjust their leadership styles to effectively connect, engage and empower employees and help them reach their full potential so they can deliver excellent outputs for the continuous growth of their respective companies.
