At least six people died while three others were seriously injured when a passenger van figured in a head-on collision with a truck while overtaking in Tagkawayan, Quezon early morning on Tuesday.
A report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City identified the fatalities as Thalia Bombales and Sergei Victor France Reyes. They died on the spot along with the driver of the van and another passenger.
Two more van passengers, identified as Agnes Villarosa and Rommel Galupar, died while undergoing treatment at the Ma. L Eleazar Memorial District Hospital.
Reports revealed that the van was overtaking a trailer bed aling Quirino HIghway in Barangay San Vicente, Tagkawayan town at around 12:30 a.m. when it hit a truck that was travelling at the opposite side of the road which it occupied.
The strong impact inflicted serious injuries on the van passengers.
The report revealed that three more van passengers were injured as a result of the accident.
