Korean singer Seo In-young, 36, known for appearing on the reality TV show “We Got Married,” tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

She is the latest celebrity to get the disease as South Korea recorded a surge in daily COVID-19 cases that prompted the government to impose the strictest social distancing rule in Seoul, Gyeonggi province and Incheon.

Seo In-young, a former member of Korean girl group Jewelry, was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 on July 13. She stopped all her schedules and went into self-isolation after getting her test results.

With the surge of COVID-19 cases in Korea, the entertainment industry is also grappling with positive cases.

Some of the Korean entertainment figures who tested positive for COVID-19 were child actress Lee Go-eun, who is appearing in the drama “Be My Dream Family,” actress Cha Ji-yeon, K-pop girl group Lovelyz member Seo Ji soo, K-pop boy band Noir member Kim Min-hyuk, K-pop boy band ATEEZ member San and K-pop boy band Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu.

The COVID-19 situation has affected schedules of stars. K-pop girl group Brave Girls cut short their comeback promotions due to the situation.

South Korea added 1,100 new COVID-19 cases on July 12 to bring the total cases to 169,146. Under Level 4 of Korea’s social distancing rule, gatherings of more than two people after 6 p.m. are prohibited. Bars and other entertainment venues are closed.
