Achieving Youth Excellence webisode empowers young minds


The first part of a three-part webisode series from People of Excellence: Achieving Youth Excellence webinar was held recently aimed to share best practices and useful life tips from well-respected role models of the society. Each webisode is intended for a particular audience profile -- young millennials and Generation Z’s, respectively.

Clement Chen, Director of Taiwan Trade Center, Manila delivered his Opening Remarks and talked about Achieving Youth Excellence in full detail. This was followed by an introductory video of the topic, an introduction of Keynote Speakers -- Janina Vela and Darren Espanto by the host Diane Medina.

Youtube Star, Actress, Operation Blessing Ambassador, World Vision Youth and Education Ambassador Janina Vela tackled the way she started in the industry, how she influenced people to do good by putting in work through the organizations she joined as one of her advocacies, bouncing back from the stress of the pandemic, the importance of using her voice as a youth who speak of her opinions with various issues of our country and calling on the youth to become their own People of Excellence.

Darren Espanto

Hailed “Total Performer”, One of the most sought-after and bankable teen pop stars around, Singer and Actor, Asia’s Pop Heart Throb, a Youth Advocate for UNDP Philippines, Darren Espanto started off by sharing adjustments he made as a young artist, how an undivided support for a child’s dream is very important, how to steadily grow a career, and told how he is honored to be part of a prominent organization such as UNDP Philippines. He also shared advices to all the youth viewers to become their own People of Excellence.

The Open Discussion on Youth Empowerment and Adaptability filled the Zoom Webinar with a total of 498 questions from the youth attendees which made the event insightfully successful. Janina Vela and Darren Espanto made the discussion light and motivating for the youth highlighting how to overcome and deal with the current struggles amidst the adjustments we are facing every day.

Overall, the webinar gained positive feedback from the audience. It even trended on the 9th spot in Twitter with the hashtag, “Darren for YouthExcellence”.
