Pateros LGU suspends first dose vaccination; reaches 75% of target

The Pateros municipal government has suspended its first dose vaccination starting Monday (July 12) due to lack of vaccines.

“Due to lack of vaccines for the first dose, starting tomorrow, July 12, 2021, there will be no vaccination for the first dose among those who registered or planning to (get the jab via) walk-in,” it said on July 11.

It said the second dose vaccination is not affected and will continue. It advised those who have received text messages to follow the instructions on the place and time of their schedule.

For those who did not receive text messages, the municipal government instructed them to go to the AMC Gym if Pfizer-BioNTech is their vaccine and for those receiving Sinovac Life Sciences’ CoronaVac, they can choose to get the shot at the Pateros Catholic School-Main, Pateros Catholic School-Annex or Villa Monica clubhouse.

“We would like to say sorry to those who ran out of vaccines today (Sunday) and please expect that we will immediately resume the first dose vaccination once new vaccines arrive,” the municipal government said.

Pateros, with an estimated population of only 70,000, is aiming to be one of the first local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to finish vaccination.

As of July 11, Pateros has vaccinated 36,954 individuals with the first dose, or 75.4 percent of the target population of only 49,000, the smallest in the National Capital Region.

The municipal government has also vaccinated 10,294 individuals with the second dose, or 21 percent, of the target.
