The Archdiocese of Manila said the image was given to the Cardinal during a Mass for the groundbreaking and site blessing of the Sto Nino De Pandacan Parish on Saturday, July 10.

In a Facebook post, the archdiocese said parish priest Father Sanny de Claro together with Fr. Gilbert Kabigting, parochial vicar, gave the image to Advincula and Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the newly appointed vicar apostolic of Taytay in Palawan.

The archdiocese said after the Mass, Cardinal Advincula distributed gift checks and food packs from Caritas Manila to some poor families in the parish.

The Sto. Nino De Pandacan Parish (SNPP) in Manila was damaged by a fire in July 2020 and among those damaged in the fire was the 400-year old image of the Sto. Niño.

The religious icon is an object of devotion to many Catholics, especially in the old district of Pandacan.

Last January 16, the solemn "pagbibihis" vesting of the new official image of the child Jesus was held at the Manila in Intramuros.
