Drugs worth nearly P.5 billion seized during 15-day CAR ops

A relentless campaign against illegal drugs has resulted in a major haul around the Cordillera Administration Region (CAR).

During the 2nd Quarter Regional Peace and Order Council meeting in Baguio City on Tuesday, July 6, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – CAR Regional Director Gil Cesario Castro said around P452.05 million worth of illegal drugs, mostly shabu and marijuana, were seized in several operations from April 1-15.

There are also three drug groups and 105 drug personalities being monitored.

For the barangay drug clearing program, Castro said that of the 1,177 barangays in the region, 361 are unaffected, 746 are drug–cleared and only 70 remain to be drug–affected and up for clearing.

The battle against illegal drugs in the region has been successful through the strong partnership among PDEA, the Philippine National Police Office -Cordillera, local government units and the community. (With a report from the Philippine Information Agency)
