Chevrolet launches the all-new Tracker

Back in the crossover SUV game

Chevrolet returns to the crossover SUV segment with a newer, fiercer competitor. The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), Chevrolet Philippines, recently launched their latest offering, the all-new Tracker. This new model will battle it out in the competitive crossover SUV segment. The Tracker is Chevy’s new-generation global SUV which has made its mark in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and China.

Design

The main influence of the Tracker’s exterior and interior design is Chevy’s sporty DNA, in line with their new design philosophy. This is evident in the sharp, angular lines across its surfaces, giving it youthful, muscular contours. The Tracker Redline Edition is the top-of-the-line variant with black and red accents on the front double grille, drawing attention to the black Chevy bowtie up front.  The heated side mirrors also have the black and L-shaped red accents. The 17-inch black alloy rims feature red accents. The Redline also has a large panoramic sunroof.

Interior

Getting inside is easy with keyless entry. A leather-wrapped, racing-inspired flat bottomed steering wheel greets the driver and has power steering and audio controls. You’ll also find sports-style jet black seats with double red stitching in the Redline, while the LS variant has the jet black and captain blue interior.

The center of the dashboard has a floating eight-inch colored touchscreen featuring the latest Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, four USB ports, and one SD card reader slot. There are more than 20 storage nooks for various items. Rear seats that split 60/40 expands the cargo space.

Powerplant

Under the hood, is a new generation 1.0-liter three-cylinder DOHC Ecotec turbocharged engine which puts out 116-hp at 5,800 rpm with max torque of 175-Nm between 1,500-4,200 rpm. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission..

The engine has advanced technologies which afford it performance and efficiency: Active Thermal Management System with electric water pump, exhaust gas recirculation, and a variable displacement oil pump. These take advantage of what would be wasted energy, optimizing engine performance while maintaining engine temperature, using less battery power and reducing fuel consumption. The water-cooled turbo intercooler has mechanical durability which lengthens the turbocharger’s life. It’s equipped with an intelligent engine start/stop system which reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Engine restart is quick, ensuring a continuous smooth drive and consistent vehicle performance.

Safety

The Tracker is equipped with a suite of active and passive safety tech: front and rear disc brakes, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), emergency brake warning, rollover mitigation, enhanced understeer control, mini spare detection, cornering brake control (CBC), traction control system (TCS), engine drag control (EDC), panic brake assist (PBA), hill start assist (HSA), low vacuum brake assist (LVBA), no vacuum brake Assist (NVBA), fading brake assist (FBA), torque vectoring brakes (TVBB), engine immobilizer, anti-theft alert system, express-up window with anti-pinch function, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), driver, front passenger, and side airbags, ISOFIX system, electric heated side mirrors, and a reverse camera with a wide 130-degree viewing angle.

“We are excited to introduce the all-new Chevrolet Tracker to the Philippine market,” said Atty. Albert B. Arcilla, president and chief executive officer of Chevrolet Philippines – TCCCI. “This highly-acclaimed crossover is a welcome addition to our refreshed model portfolio. The Tracker continues Chevrolet’s tradition of producing highly-capable crossovers and highlights the brand’s unrelenting focus on growing market segments by offering stylishly designed vehicles loaded with customer-centric technology.”
