Archdiocese of Jaro expresses full support to new CBCP president


The Archdiocese of Jaro in Iloilo has expressed its full support to the newly elected president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Kaloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David.

Jaro Archbishop Jose Romeo Lazo said the archdiocese fully supports Bishop David in his new mission and responsibilities as the president of the bishops’ organization.

“We are also praying for his success in his new capacity as the president of the CBCP,” Lazo said over Radio Veritas. David served as vice president of the CBCP for two terms or four years.

“Archbishop Jose Romeo O. Lazo, D.D. and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Jaro congratulate His Excellency, Most Rev. Pablo Virgillo S. David, D.D. Bishop of Kalookan, in his election as the new CBCP President! We assure him of our prayers and support in his new mission in the Catholic Church in the Philippines. Our cordial greetings and prayers on your election, Bishop Ambo!,” read part of the Archdiocese of Jaro’s congratulatory message.

Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara was also elected as the new vice president of the CBCP on the first day of the virtual plenary assembly of the 130 bishops from around the country.

The newly elected CBCP officials will formally assume post on the first day of December this year.
