K-pop boy band NCT Dream’s first studio album “Hot Sauce” has been officially certified to have sold two million copies.
On July 8, Korea’s Gaon Music Chart, which is under the supervision of the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA), issued certifications for albums, downloads and streaming content.
“Hot Sauce” has been given the Double Million certification for its sales of two million copies. The album was released on May 10 and as of June 2021, according to Gaon’s Album Chart, it sold 2,049,042 copies.
With this, NCT Dream became the first artist under SM Entertainment to achieve the Double Million certification.
On the Double Million certification level, NCT Dream became the second K-pop artist to receive this after BTS whose “Love Yourself: Tear” and “Love Yourself: Answer” were awarded the recognition.
On the other hand, Gaon Music Chart also issued double platinum certifications to ATEEZ’s “Zero: Fever Pt. 2” and Stray Kids’ “In Life” for selling 500,000 copies each.
Under streaming, Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” has been certified platinum for achieving 100 million streams in Korea.
The Gaon certification was launched in 2018 and to date, the following albums have been certified at least a “Million” based on the number of copies sold:
