Resilience and agility are the key drivers for post pandemic recovery, AirAsia Philippines Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ray Berja maintained at the recent Global CFO Forum.
“A CFO cannot survive the pandemic alone,” he stressed. “He needs a team committed to drive cost efficient measures and implement work productivity and maximization of resources.”
“Our present situation can be likened to a ball— the harder it hits the ground, the stronger it rebounds,” he explained.
“But this can only be successful if there’s collaboration among members of the team,” the CFO underscored.
With the passengers’ appetite to travel again, and the inoculation program set to achieve herd immunity, hopefully by Christmas time for NCR plus 8, the future looks bright, Berja predicted.
“For now, we at AirAsia will remain optimistic to hit where the demand is and continuously evolve through our various efforts of digital transformation,” he noted.
“All these as we want our guests to experience safe, hassle free and convenient travel through our various digital platforms.”
Digitalization and collaboration for profitability post pandemic was the focus of the 2021 Global CFO forum which drew 300 attendees from Asia Pacific, Middle East, USA and Europe.
The annual conference seeks to future-proof CFOs and finance leaders.
“Taking part in the 2021 Global CFO Forum as the only Filipino speaker was both a humbling and enriching experience especially for us in the airline industry,” according to Berja.
The AirAsia executive was a recipient of the 2019 Global CFO Excellence Award and the 2019 Aviation CFO of the Year award.
