Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. has paid tribute to the late former President Benigno Aquino III, describing him as “the bravest of the brave.”

In a tweet on Friday, July 2, Locsin posted a photo of a workspace where the bottom of a desk was decorated with yellow flowers. There was also a photo of the late president set up near the table.

Locsin captioned his photo: “Honoring the bravest of the brave.”

In succeeding tweets, Locsin said “brave” was the right word to describe the late President, especially during his last days.

“What else would you call someone who wouldn’t think of let alone consider taking an organ or anything else for from someone to save himself?” he said.

“He just faced the end without flinching, crying, or accepting sympathy in the last and therefore losing battle of man and his end,” he added.

According to Locsin, Aquino should have been buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani like the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos.

“He was a president of the Republic. He should be buried in Libingan but then that is a right his mother rejected,” he said.

“It is right that Marcos is buried there because the right comes with the office and not the man,” he added.

Aquino, the country’s 15th president, died on June 24 of renal disease secondary to diabetes at the age of 61.

Upon hearing the news, Locsin broke his Twitter hiatus to express his grief on the passing of the former Chief Executive.

“I’m out of Twitter from grief over the death of a sea-green incorruptible, brave under armed attack, wounded in crossfire, indifferent to power and its trappings, and ruled our country with a puzzling coldness but only because he hid his feelings so well it was thought he had none,” he said.

“I beg his sisters to allow me the honor to share their grief. He wasn’t fond of me but I could not bring myself not to admire him,” he added.
