American music act John K reveals latest album done mostly via zoom

The “Everything” singer revealed his recent work method amid ongoing pandemic.

Acclaimed singer John K shared in a recent online presser with Bulletin Entertainment how his newly released album “In Case You Miss Me” got made through video conferencing, specifically via zoom.

“85 percent of this entire project was done through zoom, going back and forth. Talking about it (with collaborators) going ‘c’mon let’s listen to it, what else do you think it needs’ and I’m cutting vocals in this room (referring to his home studio) and then sending it across the country with somebody else who’s laying it in and working on it.”

In short, The popular business meeting app, became a creative tool in the hands of John K.

“I do love being in the same room with the people I’m creating with. It’s easier to jam, and find starts and really put together the instrumental side of it. But it’s very possible, this album is proof that it’s possible to piece together a quality piece of work over Zoom.”

John K shared the ongoing pandemic “changed the way I think about songwriting because I like surrounding myself with people who are smarter than I am."

“Specifically for 'Fool Alone' for example, we did a session with a producer and an incredible writer from the UK. I don't think that would be possible if not for zoom.”

“We’d be in group text before jumping on our zoom session and (we’d) talk about what we’re listening to, and I can send him some ideas and some demoes we’ve been working on that are kind of in the same vein and in the same kind of area. And he’d (go) on a couple of different starts and chord progressions and little drum grooves and were just sending me stuff. And I was like, ‘ the second stuff you sent might be something that we can use, and the fifth one.’ And (then) we’d jump on zoom and it’s just like, we’ll play it, we’ll talk and we’ll try to write something over it. and that would be just the beginning,” John K explained, adding, “and then the real work begins because we have to bring it to life.”

He then summarized the breakdown of work involved in his new album: “This entire project, in large part, most of the writing was done on zoom and the production in-person when we locked in together.”

John K recently released his new album titled “in case you miss me” under Epic Records and thru Sony Music label worldwide. The album contains the recent singles “everything” and “ilym” feat Rosie and ten other brand new tracks.
