PCG, DICT to strengthen vessel monitoring capability in Misamis Oriental


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have joined forces to strengthen vessel monitoring capability in Sipaca Point, Misamis Oriental.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 29, the DICT Region 10 has offered its facility tower and equipment in Sipaca Point, Talisayan, where the PCG District Northern Mindanao personnel will install the radio repeater with a maximum range of 50 nautical miles.

“The project is expected to enhance maritime response operations for the benefit of domestic and international vessels transiting within the region,” the PCG said.

Last June 18, PCG Station Northeastern Misamis Oriental Commander, Lieutenant Junior Grade Stephen Pagcaliwagan and DICT - Region 10 Assistant Regional Director Leo Ugto discussed the installation details for the project after the conduct of joint area survey and evaluation.
