'What a waste': Nebrija says traffic enforcers in 'kotong' video were his ex-teammates

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic czar Edison Bong Nebrija can't help but feel regret for his two former teammates who have lost their way.

Nebrija was referring to traffic enforcers Raul Gulmatico and Corazon Castañeda, who recently slapped with a 90-day preventive suspension order by MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos after the two were caught extorting money from a motorist in a viral video.

"These two enforcers are members of my former unit the TFSO . Nakakapanghinayang (It's regretful) that they did not give value to their work and compromised their integrity over a small amount of money," he wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, June 26.

"This suspension could eventually lead to their dismissal from the service if found guilty and their benefits might also be forfeited," he said.

"They are my former team mates and to see them this way really saddens me. Sayang talaga (What a waste)," Nebrija further said.

Nebrija, the agency's top traffic disciplinarian along EDSA, is a known straight shooter. MMDA Director Noemi Recio, in an interview over DZBB radio Sunday, June 27, said Gulmatico and Castañeda have been with the agency for 25 years. But like what Nebrjia said, this could all go down the drain just because of "kotong".
