More than 1,000 cops deployed to secure PNoy burial

The Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed more than 1,000 personnel to secure the burial of former President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said more cops will be be visible in areas where the remains of the former president are expected to pass by until in reaches the Manila Memorial Park for the burial.

He said the policemen will be reinforced by personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and other enforcers from the Local Government Units (LGUs).

"We will be limiting those who would enter the Heritage Park because we really have to implement security and health measures because of the pandemic," said Eleazar.

He then called on those who wanted to pay their last respects to monitor the entire ceremonies in the media, noting that some media entities would be holding live coverage of all the ceremonies.

"We will also continuously assess the entire situation on regular basis so that we could make some security adjustments," said Eleazar.
