The Philippines was drawn in Group F of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers slated Sept. 13 to 25 in Nepal.

The national squad will take on host Nepal and Hong Kong in the single-round competition that will see the group’s top team advancing to next year’s Women’s Asian Cup in India.

“We wish the Philippine women’s national team all the best as they face Hong Kong and Nepal in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India Qualifiers 2022,” said PFF president Nonong Araneta.

“This is the team’s return to competition and we hope they can make their return to the Women’s Asian Cup as they embark on the path to World Cup qualification.”

It will be the first competition for the women booters since the country’s hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games when they placed fourth.

But the team has since been inactive due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though it was able to rise to No. 68 in the latest FIFA world rankings.

The ladies will attempt to secure a second straight berth to the continental competition after competing in the 2018 edition held in Amman, Jordan.
