The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday, June 24, mourned the passing of former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
In a statement, DSWD described Aquino as a diligent and dedicated public servant.
“His passion to serve the public was unparalleled. This was seen through his “Daang Matuwid” leadership which ensured that government reforms and policies will be made to improve the lives of the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors of society,” it said.
“The whole DSWD family is grateful and honored to be a part of his legacy,” added DSWD.
Aquino, who served as the country’s 15th president from 2010 to 2016, died Thursday at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.
