QC tops Manila in single-day highest number of vaccine doses administered in NCR

Quezon City has surpassed Manila as the city in the National Capital Region (NCR) with the highest number of single-day vaccine doses administered to residents.

This came after 37,234 doses were given in the city's 41 vaccination sites on Monday, topping Manila's June 20 all-time high record of 27,642.

"This is a big step in a ladder that we are climbing. With continued collective efforts from the city government, private sector and other partners, we will soon achieve protection for most of our citizens," Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

In total, 495,490 residents belonging to A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5 categories already received their first dose of vaccine or 29.1 percent of the local government's 1.7 target population.

Meanwhile, 150,553 or 8.8 percent of the total target population completed their jab.

Currently, the local government said, its vaccination program continues to expand with sites now located in 50 different areas including the SMART Araneta Coliseum, the largest vaccination site in the city.

Other sites were established in schools, hospitals, malls, drive-thru, clubhouses, barangay halls, and even the city hall compound in partnerships with universities, private companies, malls, medical teams, and church organizations like the Diocese of Novaliches and Cubao.
