The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City launched on Monday, June 21, its “E-Dalaw” system for all persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in its minimum security compound (NBP-Minsecom) to allow them to see and talk with their loved ones online.

In a statement BuCor said: “Since the pandemic began, visitation has been temporarily postponed. To lessen their longing for their families, ‘E-Dalaw’ has been launched.”

It said that BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag has been “continuously giving importance to the welfare of all PDLs.”

It also said four laptop units have been set up for use by PDLs at the NBP-Minsecom.

Also last Monday, Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Southern Leyte launched its “E-Dalaw” system “to provide moral support and give hope to PDLs by contacting their immediate family to alleviate the hardships and loneliness they suffer.”

LRP said the online system is being implemented for PDLs as “an alternative to physical visitation which has been suspended due to pandemic.”
