The special non-working holiday in Manila was issued through Proclamation No. 1167 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. The proclamation included a reminder to the public to observe the safety and health regulations against the spread of the coronavirus while commemorating Manila Day.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” the proclamation read.

The proclamation was signed by Medialdea on June 21 by authority of President Duterte.
