DOH logs 5,249 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,249 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Monday, June 21.

This brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,364,239.

The DOH case bulletin also showed 7,053 new recoveries and 128 new deaths.

The total number of recoveries rose to 1,284,643 while total deaths climbed to 23,749.

The DOH said 23 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 16 of these were recoveries.

"In addition, two cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. These two cases are recoveries," it said. "Moreover, 62 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 45 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," added the DOH.

The Health department said all labs were operational on June 19, 2021 while eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

It added that based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.80 percent of samples tested and 0.71 percent of positive individuals.
