‘A Quiet Place Part II’ tops weekend box office in Korea, earns $2.4 million

The horror film “A Quiet Place Part II” topped the weekend box office in South Korea, dislodging “Cruella” from the No. 1 spot.

According to the Korea Film Council (KOFIC), “A Quiet Place Part II” sold 271,672 tickets over the weekend from June 18 to 20 to place No. 1 with $2.42 million in gross.

The film was released in Korea on June 16 and has topped the daily box office for five consecutive days.

As of June 20, “A Quiet Place Part II” has sold 379,697 tickets and earned $3.34 million in South Korea.

It is a sequel to the “A Quiet Place,” released in 2018, and follows the journey of the Abbott family, which “must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path,” according to its website.

Placing second is “Cruella,” which sold 162,726 tickets and grossed $1.43 million over the weekend. Released in Korea on May 26, “Cruella” has sold 1.22 million tickets and earned $10.38 million as of June 20.

“Luca,” released on June 17, recorded total admissions of 115,818 and revenue of $937,480 followed by “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” with 51,608 tickets and revenue of $468,342.
