3 BIFF terrorists killed in Maguindanao clash

Government troops killed three members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and captured an alleged hideout of the terrorists during separate operations in Maguindanao this weekend.

Troops were conducting military operations in Barangay Linantangan, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao Sunday morning when soldiers figured in a firefight with ten BIFF members under Muslimin Amilil, alias “Mus,” of the BIFF Karialan faction.

“Firefight ensued at Sitio Proper, Barangay Linantangan, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao at about 5:52 a.m., Sunday (June 20, 2021), which resulted in the deaths of three BIFF militants,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command chief.

Troops recovered war materials, two hand grenades, two .45 caliber pistols, eight grams of suspected shabu, and P1,000 cash. On Saturday afternoon, troops discovered an abandoned hideout in Sitio Tubak, Barangay Saniag, Ampatuan, Maguindanao, believed to have been occupied by the BIFF. The lair can reportedly accommodate up to 100 persons in 12 foxholes and has running trenches, overhead bunkers, and three guard posts.

Soldiers also recovered an improvised explosive device, personal, and household items in the area.

Vinluan commended the soldiers for their accomplishment.
